Mission

The purpose of the Foundation is to provide scholarships and other post-secondary support to Cashmere High School graduates and strengthen the capacity of the District to provide a quality education for all students.

History

In 1999 Ron Doane began building the foundation around his idea of providing scholarships to every graduate of Cashmere High School that wanted to go to College.  The first thing he did was create a Trustee Board which included Bob Wildfang, Stephen Crossland, Mary Robinson, Ron Myers, and Dr. Lynn Baker.  The Cashmere Schools Foundation began awarding scholarships to graduating seniors of the Cashmere High School the following year in 2000.   One of it’s first recipients was a young man named Alex Garcia who in 2018  became a Trustee of the Foundation.  In 2019 the Cashmere Schools Foundation awarded 37 scholarships for $62,300.

Bob Wildfang

I was born in Bismarck, ND and moved to the state of Washington when I was 1 month old. I attended the Burlington Edison schools and graduated from Burlington Edison High School. Following high school graduation my college career took me to Central Washington University where I graduated with a degree in K-12 education. My university major was economics and a minor in business.

Following graduation from CWU, I taught one year at Arlington High School. Following that I was hired by Superintendent Dick Johnson as his assistant in Cashmere. I was employed by the Cashmere School District until my retirement.

I have been involved with community service since my retirement. Ron Doane came to me one day and talked about his dream for scholarships for Cashmere High School Graduates. We begun the task of organizing and starting Cashmere Schools Foundation. The foundation was formed in 1999 and the first scholarship was awarded in 2000.

It has been my pleasure to serve on the board of trustees for the Cashmere Schools Foundation since day one.

I am a graduate of the Cashmere High School Class of 1997. After graduating I moved to Seattle (as fast as I could) where I spent nearly 10 years. While there, I started to understand the value of what I had back home. I moved back to the Wenatchee Valley in 2006 with my wife and started raising a family. We now have 3 great kids who we are teaching the importance of being in community and serving in the community. I am fortunate enough to be able to give back to the community that gave me so much growing up. As a trustee on the Cashmere Schools Foundation I couldn’t be more proud of this Foundation and the Cashmere community. I know there is so much more that can be done to support our schools and impact the kids in our community. I look forward to the next chapter in this story.

I grew up in Monitor, Washington and was a part of the Cashmere community for over 15 years before leaving for college. I attended Cashmere High School and was one of the first recipients of the Cashmere School Foundation’s scholarships. When I moved back the the Wenatchee Valley I wanted nothing more than to pay it back to the community that helped raise me and get me to where I am today. I joined the Cashmere Schools Foundation Board in 2017. I love Cashmere and hope to have my children go to school in this amazing community.

I had the good fortune of growing up in the Cashmere community and graduating from Cashmere High School in 1984. Upon graduation from high school, I attended Central Washington University where I earned my teaching degree and principal certification. I later attended Washington State University and obtained my superintendent credentials. In 2002, my family and I returned home to the Cashmere Valley when I was hired as the Superintendent of the Cashmere School District. For that past 17 years, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to serve as the school district superintendent and also as a member of the Cashmere School Foundation Board. It has been a true honor to serve as a board member for the Cashmere School Foundation whose sole mission is to help kids.

Ways to Give

Start a Fund

Whether you start a fund today and give during your lifetime, or leave a legacy to support the causes you love forever, we have many types of funds that offer flexible giving options that can be tailored to fulfill your philanthropic dreams.

We can work with you and your financial advisor to develop giving options that are best for you and your family.

Give to a Fund

To make your gift online select “Donate” and let us know which fund you would like to contribute to.  For an updated list please email the foundation at  cashmereschoolsfoundation@gmail.com

Give through your will

By leaving a portion of your estate to the Cashmere Schools Foundation, you can support the causes you care about – forever. There are many options for your gift, and we work closely with you and your financial advisor to determine the best way to carry out your charitable dreams.

Stock Transfers

For stock held in brokerage accounts, your broker can assist you in making a gift of stock via a direct transfer to CSF. Giving a gift of publicly traded stock that has increased in value and that you have owned for more than one year may provide better tax benefits than giving cash. Your charitable income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock and you avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the current value over the original cost of the stock. You may also save on brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock.

Please consult your financial advisor and tax planner for more details.  When you are ready to complete the transaction please contact us at  cashmereschoolsfoundation@gmail.com

Volunteer

Another way you can give is of your time, energy, and skillset.  Please contact us if you would like to get involved with the Foundation by participating in one of our annual events, becoming a committee member, or another way you think you can help further our cause.
